The Recovery Wake Is the Evidence
A Fractalish research note on bifurcation, constraint, and semi-recovery states in morphology and signals.
A rock in a river is not merely an object. It reshapes the surrounding field. Pressure builds before the obstacle. Flow lines split. Downstream, the system does not instantly return to baseline. It produces wake, eddies, partial rejoining, and a new channel memory.
The bifurcation is not the event. The recovery wake is the evidence.
Definition
A post-bifurcation recovery signature is a morphology or signal pattern appearing downstream of a split event, where a system that encountered resistance, obstruction, pressure, or uncertainty partially re-coheres into a new stable or semi-stable path.
MCVA translation
- EXTEND: the system continues forward.
- SENSE: pressure accumulates before a boundary.
- RESTRICT: direct continuation is blocked or constrained.
- BIFURCATE: the system splits into available channels.
- HOLD / turbulent wake: downstream instability while resolution is incomplete.
- SEMI-RECOVERY: branches partially rejoin, stabilize, or select a dominant path.
- MEMORY MARK: the channel is altered; the next flow is not born into a blank world.
Why it matters
A split tells us the system encountered choice or constraint. The recovery zone tells us what the system became afterward.
Fractal dimension measures complexity. MCVA must also measure recovery.
Guardrails
- Do not infer obstruction or recovery from a single image unless domain baseline supports it.
- Prefer time-series or before/after imagery.
- Route ambiguous cases to HOLD.
- Route non-diagnostic cases to AMCVA.
- Treat this as a candidate feature family until validated.
